Decomposed Granite
Decomposed granite (DG) is natural granite rock that has weathered into small, sandy particles ranging from fine powder to 3/8 inch fragments. It is used for pathways, patios, ground cover, and drainage in landscapes.
Hardscape
Hardscape refers to the non living, structural elements of a landscape: patios, walkways, retaining walls, driveways, steps, fences, and other built features made from stone, concrete, brick, wood, or metal.
Ice Melt
Ice melt is a chemical deicer applied to walkways, driveways, and steps to lower the freezing point of water and prevent ice accumulation. Types range from cheap rock salt to pet-safe potassium chloride.
Snow Removal
Snow removal is the process of clearing snow and ice from driveways, walkways, and parking areas. Methods range from manual shoveling to professional plow services. Timing and technique matter: removing snow before it compacts and applying deicer before storms prevents ice bonding.
Xeriscape
Xeriscape (from the Greek word xeros meaning dry) is a landscaping approach that reduces or eliminates the need for supplemental irrigation. It uses drought tolerant plants, efficient irrigation, and smart design to create attractive landscapes with minimal water use.
Black Mulch
Black mulch is dyed hardwood chips that create high-contrast landscape beds. It costs $25 to $40 per cubic yard, is non-toxic, but fades to gray within 6 to 12 months under UV exposure.
Cedar Mulch
Cedar mulch is shredded cedar wood that naturally repels insects and resists decay for 2 to 3 years. It costs $35 to $50 per cubic yard and works best around foundations, in humid climates, and in vegetable gardens.
Cypress Mulch
Cypress mulch is shredded cypress wood that resists rot, repels insects, and stays in place on slopes. It costs $30 to $45 per cubic yard and lasts 2 to 3 years.
Rubber Mulch
Rubber mulch is shredded recycled tires that last 10+ years without replacement. It costs $80 to $120 per cubic yard and is ideal for playgrounds and high-traffic paths but adds nothing to soil health.
