What Affects Snow Removal Cost

The biggest factor is property size: a standard residential driveway (2 car, 400 to 600 square feet) costs $30 to $50 per visit. A large circular driveway or commercial lot costs significantly more. Other factors include accumulation depth (most companies charge more above 6 inches), frequency (per-push vs seasonal contract), and whether you need sidewalks and steps cleared in addition to the driveway.

What SunCo Charges

In the Omaha metro, our residential snow removal starts at $35 per push for a standard two-car driveway with sidewalk. Seasonal contracts start at $350 for November through March. Commercial properties are quoted individually based on lot size, equipment requirements, and service level agreement.

Factors That Drive the Price

Property Size

Every additional 100 sq ft of driveway adds $5 to $10 per push.

Accumulation Depth

Base rate covers up to 6 inches. Add 25 to 50% for 6 to 12 inches.

Frequency

Per-push pricing is higher per event but lower overall in light winters.

Sidewalks and Steps

Clearing sidewalks, steps, and walkways adds $10 to $20 per visit.

Salt or Deicer

Application of ice melt after clearing adds $10 to $25 per visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does snow removal cost per month?

Residential seasonal contracts average $60 to $120 per month (November through March). This covers all snow events regardless of frequency. In Omaha, we recommend seasonal contracts for predictable cost and guaranteed service during heavy winters.

When should I hire a snow removal company?

Book before the first snow, ideally in October. Most reputable companies fill their routes by mid-November. If you wait until the first storm, you'll pay premium rates and may not find availability. Seasonal contracts should be signed by November 1.

Is snow removal tax deductible?

For residential properties, generally not. For commercial properties and rental properties, snow removal is a deductible business expense. Home-based businesses may deduct a portion proportional to business use of the property. Consult your tax advisor.
