Fall is such a beautiful time of year. The changing leaves, cooler temperatures, and bonfires make it the perfect way to enjoy an evening with your family or friends! Below we have some of our favorite fall spots in the Omaha area.

Pumpkin patches, orchards, and farms

Omaha offers many places that can be a fun fall day trip! Vala’s Pumpkin Patch has a variety of attractions, food, and games. If you want a large corn maze, Skinny Bones Pumpkin Patch is your spot! For those who love being scared, visit Mystery Manor or Haunted Hollow which offer a number of freaky attractions. There are also orchards in the area like Martin’s Hillside Orchard and Arbor Day Farm if you are willing to drive a little further.

Fall colors

See beautiful fall colors by going for a drive or taking a hike. Fontenelle Forest in Bellevue has trails as well as indoor and outdoor areas for children. And, if you are an Omaha, Bellevue, or Council Bluffs library member, you can check out a free pass to visit. Just outside Omaha is Mahoney State Park offering scenic drives, hiking, biking, and more! Minutes away is Platte River State Park, which has a waterfall and more scenic hiking and biking trails. There are also two observation towers that overlook the Platte River and Mahoney State Park. Want to stay in the car? Take a drive through Wildlife Safari Park to see if you can spot bears, wolves, and more!

Fall activities at home

If you’re looking to stay home but still participate in fall activities, there’s a lot you can do! Watch scary movies every weekend leading up to Halloween. Bake cozy, seasonal treats or make your own fall drinks. If you’re able to, enjoy a fire in your backyard with family and friends. You can also create DIY fall decor with your kids. (P.S. Did you know that we offer fall containers?)
